Ingredients

  • 2 lb. grated cabbage
  • 1 medium bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. vinegar
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1 Tbsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Bring bell pepper, onion, sugar, vinegar, Crisco, and salt to a boil.
  2. Pour the hot mixture over the grated cabbage.
  3. Optionally, grate 2 large carrots with the cabbage for added color and taste.
  4. Refrigerate the slaw; it will keep for about two weeks.
