Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups margarine
  • 4 to 5 apples, pared and sliced thin

Instructions

  1. Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  2. Mix dry ingredients (flour, sugar, salt) and add margarine. Blend well.
  3. Add eggs and mix thoroughly.
  4. Spread all but one cup of the dough in the prepared pan.
  5. Use a wet spoon to push the dough into place.
  6. Arrange apples in rows on the dough, not too many to prevent sogginess.
  7. Sprinkle apples with 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
  8. Form the remaining dough and rub it between your hands over the apples.
  9. Bake at 350°F until the apples are soft, about 30 to 40 minutes.
