Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 5 egg yolks

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar and butter together until smooth and fluffy.
  2. Add egg yolks one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Stir in vanilla and milk until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients (flour and baking powder) to the wet mixture.
  5. Beat the batter well until smooth.
  6. Divide the batter evenly into two greased 9-inch pans.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from oven and cool before icing or serving.
