A hearty make-ahead breakfast casserole combining sausage, bread, eggs, and cheese, perfect for feeding a crowd or weekend brunch with rich, savory flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. sausage
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 cup sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 6 slices bread, cubed
  • 6 eggs, beaten

Instructions

  1. Place cubed bread in the bottom of a greased casserole dish.
  2. Fry sausage; chop into fine pieces and drain excess fat.
  3. Beat eggs, milk, and dry mustard together.
  4. Add grated Cheddar cheese to the egg mixture.
  5. Sprinkle cooked sausage over the bread in the casserole.
  6. Pour the egg mixture over the sausage and bread.
  7. Cover tightly and chill overnight.
  8. Put the casserole in a cold oven and set the temperature to 350°F.
  9. Bake for 45 minutes until golden and set.
