Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup cooked cornbread
  • 1/3 cup leftover bread or biscuits
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • chicken or turkey stock

Instructions

  1. Cook cornbread according to recipe or package directions. Crumble the cornbread and tear or cut the bread into small pieces. Mix the breads together in a large bowl.
  2. Add chopped onion, salt, pepper, and beaten egg to the bread mixture. Mix well.
  3. Add hot water gradually until the mixture is moist and slightly soupy.
  4. Pour in chicken or turkey stock until the mixture reaches a soupy consistency.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  6. Bake at 350°F for approximately 30 minutes or until slightly browned on top.
