  • 12 oz. German sweet chocolate
  • 1 pt. marshmallow cream
  • 2 c. nut meats

Tips & Substitutions

To achieve a smooth fudge, ensure the sugar fully dissolves during boiling. If you prefer a nut-free version, you can substitute the nut meats with a mix of dried fruits. For a twist, try adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract or a pinch of espresso powder to enhance the chocolate flavor. This fudge is similar in indulgence to the Quick 'N Easy Chocolate Cherry Cake.

Serving Suggestions

Cut the fudge into small squares for serving, and consider pairing it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delightful dessert. It also makes a perfect gift during holidays or special occasions when wrapped in decorative packaging. This rich fudge pairs beautifully with the Peachy Pancakes for a decadent brunch.

Storage & Reheating

Store Mamie's Fudge in an airtight container or a tin box to keep it fresh. It can be kept at room temperature for about a week. For longer storage, refrigerate it for up to three weeks. If you prefer a softer texture, allow it to come to room temperature before serving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use milk chocolate instead of semi-sweet chocolate bits?

Yes, you can use milk chocolate for a sweeter fudge, but be aware that it will alter the flavor profile. Semi-sweet chocolate balances the sweetness of the sugar and marshmallow cream, so the final product might be much sweeter with milk chocolate.

What can I do if my fudge doesn't set properly?

If your fudge doesn't set, it may not have boiled long enough. Try placing it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours to help it firm up. Alternatively, you can reheat the fudge gently and add a little more evaporated milk and sugar, then re-beat and pour into a pan again.

Can I add flavors or ingredients to this fudge recipe?

Absolutely! You can incorporate ingredients like crushed peppermint candies, dried fruit, or even a splash of flavored extracts, such as almond or coffee, to create your own variations. Just be mindful of the overall balance of sweetness.
