Maple Scones With Maple Glaze

Ingredients

  • FOR THE SCONES:
  • 3 cups Unbleached Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1/3 cups Brown Sugar
  • 4 ounces, weight Cubed Cold Butter
  • 2 whole Eggs, Lightly Beaten
  • 1/2 cups Pure Maple Syrup
  • FOR THE GLAZE:
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour mix. Stir in the eggs and maple syrup.
  3. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead briefly. Roll dough out into a 1/2 inch thick round.
  4. Cut into 8 wedges, and place on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove the scones to a wire rack to cool before drizzling with the glaze.
  6. To make the glaze, mix all of the glaze ingredients together in a small bowl until well-combined and thick.
