Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2.25 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon maple flavoring
  • 5 eggs
  • 1.5 cups chopped California walnuts

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugars until fluffy.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Alternately beat into the butter mixture with the combined milk and maple flavoring.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  5. Mix in chopped walnuts.
  6. Turn the batter into a greased 9 or 10-inch tube pan.
  7. Bake in the lower third of a 300°F (150°C) oven for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes until tests done.
  8. Turn out onto a rack to cool. Drizzle with Maple Glaze and garnish with walnuts.
