Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 4 Tbsp. oil or melted shortening
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • flour
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the baking soda in the sour cream and set aside.
  2. Beat together the eggs, sugar, and oil or melted shortening until well combined.
  3. Add the sour cream with the soda, a pinch of salt, nutmeg, and vanilla to the egg mixture.
  4. Stir well and add 1/2 cup flour and the buttermilk.
  5. Stir well to combine.
  6. Put the baking powder in 1 cup of flour and stir into the mixture.
  7. Keep adding flour until the dough feels ready to roll and cut.
  8. Chill the dough in the refrigerator before rolling out to cut into shapes.
