Ingredients

  • 6 egg whites
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 envelope Knox gelatine
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • food coloring

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the gelatin in 1/2 cup cold water and set aside.
  2. Add 1/2 cup hot water to the gelatin mixture and stir until completely dissolved.
  3. Allow the gelatin mixture to cool while beating the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gradually add the sugar and vanilla to the egg whites while continuing to beat.
  5. Fold the cooled gelatin mixture into the beaten egg whites carefully.
  6. Add food coloring if desired and mix gently.
  7. Pour into molds or serving dishes and refrigerate until set, about 2-3 hours.
