Ingredients

  • 1 loaf lite whole wheat bread
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 2 large sweet onions
  • 6 stalks fresh celery
  • 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sage

Instructions

  1. Dice the sweet onions and fresh celery stalks.
  2. Add spices (poultry seasoning, garlic powder, nutmeg, black pepper, sage) to a cup of boiling water and simmer until the vegetables are soft.
  3. Tear the lite whole wheat bread into pieces.
  4. Combine the bread, cooked onions and celery, and the spice-infused water mixture.
  5. If the mixture is too dry, add more skim milk until it reaches desired consistency.
  6. Transfer to an oven-safe dish and bake for 20 minutes next to your turkey or chicken.
  7. Serve hot as a flavorful stuffing side dish.
