- Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg in a large bowl.
- In a medium bowl, combine well-beaten eggs with sugar and milk.
- Stir the wet ingredients well.
- Mix the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients.
- Stir well, handling the dough very little.
- Roll out the dough on a floured board.
- Cut the dough into doughnut shapes.
- Fry in hot shortening until golden brown.
- Turn over and brown the other side.
- Remove and lay on paper towels to drain.
