Savory cabbage rolls stuffed with seasoned beef and rice, smothered in tomato sauce and sauerkraut for a comforting, hearty dish perfect for family dinners

Ingredients

  • 1 large head cabbage
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 2 small pieces garlic
  • 1 can sauerkraut
  • 1 can tomato soup

Instructions

  1. Dip cabbage leaves in hot water until wilted; drain.
  2. Combine ground beef, salt, pepper, cooked rice, and minced garlic; mix well.
  3. Place 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf.
  4. Roll the leaf around the filling and secure with a toothpick.
  5. Spread sauerkraut in the bottom of a large pot or Dutch oven.
  6. Arrange the rolled cabbage leaves on top of the sauerkraut.
  7. Pour tomato soup and tomato paste over the rolls.
  8. Add enough water to cover the ingredients.
  9. Cover and cook slowly for 1 hour at 350°F.
