Ingredients

  • 1 cup Minute rice
  • 1 egg, beaten slightly
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 pound beef
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • dash of pepper
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. Combine rice, beef, beaten egg, chopped onion, salt, pepper, sugar, and 1/2 cup of tomato sauce; mix lightly.
  2. Shape the mixture into balls and place them in a skillet.
  3. Add the remaining tomato sauce, sugar, and water to the skillet.
  4. Pour the sauce over the meatballs.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes, basting occasionally.
