Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 pint commercial sour cream
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening, sugar, and vanilla thoroughly.
  2. Add eggs, singly, beating well after each addition.
  3. Sift flour, baking powder, and baking soda together.
  4. Add to creamed mixture, alternating with sour cream, blending after each addition.
  5. Spread half of batter in a greased 10-inch tube pan lined with waxed paper on the bottom.
  6. Cream butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon together.
  7. Add chopped nuts; mix well.
  8. Dot batter in the pan evenly with half of the nut mixture.
  9. Cover with remaining batter. Dot with remaining nut mixture.
  10. Bake at 350°F for about 50 minutes.
  11. Cool the cake for 10 minutes.
  12. Remove from the pan.
