  • 1/2 cup oyster sauce

  5. Add sliced onion on the side of the pan and stir-fry.
  6. Pour some onion on top of the salmon.

Tips & Substitutions

For enhanced flavor, consider marinating the salmon in the oyster sauce and mayonnaise mixture for 30 minutes before cooking. If Hawaiian salt is unavailable, sea salt can be used instead. To add a spicy kick, incorporate a dash of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes. This dish also pairs well with a side of steamed vegetables or rice to soak up the savory sauce.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Michiko's Salmon with a side of fluffy jasmine rice or quinoa to complement the rich flavors. A fresh green salad with a light vinaigrette can add a refreshing contrast. This dish also pairs beautifully with Sopa De Piscado (Fish Soup) for a delightful seafood meal. Garnish with fresh herbs like cilantro or green onions for added color and flavor.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover salmon in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat, gently warm it in a skillet over low heat to preserve moisture, or microwave it in 30-second intervals until heated through. Be cautious not to overcook, as this can dry out the salmon.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use frozen salmon for this recipe?

Yes, you can use frozen salmon. Just ensure it's fully thawed before cooking to achieve even cooking. Place it in the refrigerator overnight or submerge it in cold water for quicker thawing. This recipe's flavors will still shine through using frozen fish.

What can I substitute for mayonnaise if I want a lighter option?

Greek yogurt is an excellent substitute for mayonnaise, providing creaminess with fewer calories. You can also use low-fat sour cream for a similar texture. Adjust the amount of oyster sauce to balance the flavors, as Greek yogurt may be slightly tangy.

Is there a way to add more vegetables to this dish?

Absolutely! You can add bell peppers, zucchini, or snap peas to the sautéed onions for added color and nutrition. Simply toss them in the pan after the garlic is sautéed, allowing them to cook slightly before adding the salmon. This will make the dish more vibrant and nutritious.
