Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Mix shortening and powdered sugar thoroughly. Stir in 1 1/2 cups flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  2. Press mixture firmly in an 11 x 7 1/2 x 1 1/2-inch microwave-safe baking dish.
  3. Microwave, uncovered, on High (100%) for 2 minutes. Turn dish 1/4 turn.
  4. Microwave until no longer doughy, 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Mix remaining ingredients (eggs, brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, baking powder, salt, vanilla).
  6. Spread the mixture over the hot layer in the dish.
  7. Microwave for 3 minutes.
  8. Turn dish 1/4 turn. Microwave for another 3 minutes.
  9. Allow to cool. Cut into bars about 3 x 1 inch.
