- Place chocolate chips and 1/4 cup of milk in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt and set aside to cool.
- Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla, and beat well.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, mixing until well blended.
- Transfer about 3 1/3 cups of batter to a medium bowl.
- Stir in the remaining 1/4 cup of milk into this batter and set aside.
- Stir the cooled chocolate mixture into the remaining batter.
- Fill four small loaf pans alternately with white and chocolate batter. Swirl with a table knife to create a marbled effect.
- Place the pans on a cookie sheet and bake for 1 hour at 325°F (163°C).
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans before removing and serving.
