Ingredients

  • 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Place chocolate chips and 1/4 cup of milk in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt and set aside to cool.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla, and beat well.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, mixing until well blended.
  5. Transfer about 3 1/3 cups of batter to a medium bowl.
  6. Stir in the remaining 1/4 cup of milk into this batter and set aside.
  7. Stir the cooled chocolate mixture into the remaining batter.
  8. Fill four small loaf pans alternately with white and chocolate batter. Swirl with a table knife to create a marbled effect.
  9. Place the pans on a cookie sheet and bake for 1 hour at 325°F (163°C).
  10. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans before removing and serving.
