Ingredients

  • 1 lb. butter
  • 2 (8 oz.) packages cream cheese
  • 5 c. flour
  • 2 lb. walnuts, chopped very fine
  • 1 tsp. melted butter
  • 1/2 c. milk

Instructions

  1. Blend 1 pound butter and cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Gradually add 5 cups of flour, blending until the bowl comes clean.
  3. Refrigerate the dough until firm, usually overnight.
  4. Roll dough out in 10x sugar (not flour), then cut into 4 pieces.
  5. Mix 2 pounds chopped walnuts, 1 teaspoon melted butter, and 1/2 cup milk to make the nut mixture.
  6. Divide the dough into about 33 balls, then cut each ball into 4 pieces.
  7. Spread the nut mixture on the widest part of each dough piece.
  8. Fold in the edges and back, then roll so the tip is on the bottom of the cookie sheet.
  9. Bake at 375°F for about 15 to 17 minutes until lightly browned.
  10. Check during baking to prevent overbrowning.
  11. Roll the finished nut rolls in 10x sugar.
