Ingredients

  • 1 (No. 10) can tomatoes
  • 1 (No. 10) can tomato sauce
  • 5 lb. ground beef
  • 1 1/2 chopped onions
  • 1/3 c. chili powder
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 8 c. red beans (4 c. dry, soaked and cooked)

Instructions

  1. Brown the chopped onions in a large pot.
  2. Add the canned tomatoes and tomato sauce to the onions.
  3. Stir in the cooked red beans, chili powder, and sugars.
  4. Simmer the mixture for 1 hour while browning the ground beef in a separate pan.
  5. Add the browned ground beef to the chili and simmer for an additional 2 hours.
