Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 cups cold water
  • 1 1/2 cups yellow cornmeal
  • 3 tablespoons white flour
  • 1 can salmon

Instructions

  1. Boil 4 1/2 cups of water.
  2. In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients: 1 1/2 cups yellow cornmeal and 3 tablespoons white flour.
  3. Stir the dry mixture into 1 1/2 cups of cold water and mix well.
  4. Immediately stir the cold batter into the boiling water and bring to a boil again.
  5. Lower heat to simmer and cook until thickened.
  6. Add a drained can of salmon that has been crumbled into the mixture.
  7. Pour the mush into a 9 x 5-inch pan and cover with wax paper.
  8. Chill until the next day.
  9. Slice thin and fry before serving.
