Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 3 1/2 qt. water
  • 1 qt. tomato juice
  • 14 oz. catsup
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. pickling spices
  • 3 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 6 to 7 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 to 3 beef bouillon cubes
  • 3/4 c. flour

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients, except flour and eggs, and simmer over low heat for 1 1/2 hours.
  2. Brown the flour.
  3. Make a paste of the flour and an additional 2 to 3 cups of hot water in a blender.
  4. Add the flour paste to the soup.
  5. Chop the hard-boiled eggs and add to the soup.
  6. Simmer the soup for an additional hour.
