Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 jumbo eggs
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 1 c. molasses
  • 2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. boiling water
  • 5 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp. ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • chopped nuts and raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix together the sugar, eggs, Crisco, molasses, vinegar and boiling water in a large bowl.
  2. Blend the dry ingredients together and stir into the molasses mixture.
  3. If desired, stir in some chopped nuts and/or raisins.
  4. Bake at 325° for 14 to 15 minutes.
