Ingredients

  • 1 c. lard
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. coffee
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • spices (to suit taste)
  • 3 tsp. baking powder

Instructions

  1. Mix the soda into the coffee and set aside.
  2. Combine molasses, lard, sugar, eggs, spices, and baking powder in a bowl.
  3. Gradually add the coffee with soda to the mixture, blending well.
  4. Roll out the dough and cut into desired shapes.
  5. Bake in a 350°F oven until golden brown.
