  1. Put sliced onions into a pan and brown them.
  2. Trim fat off the brisket and sprinkle paprika on both sides.
  3. Place the brisket fat side up over the onions.
  4. Sprinkle onion soup mix over both sides of the brisket.
  5. Add water to the pan.
  6. Cook over a very slow burner for several hours, covered.
