Ingredients

  • 3 envelopes dry yeast
  • 2 cups very warm water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 5 1/2 to 6 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup instant nonfat dry milk
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 3 cups grated Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle yeast over very warm water in a large bowl.
  2. Add a pinch of the sugar; stir to dissolve.
  3. Let stand until bubbly, about 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in the rest of the sugar, vegetable oil, and salt.
  5. Sift 3 cups of the flour with the dry milk; stir into the yeast mixture.
  6. Beat until smooth.
  7. Stir in enough of the remaining flour to make a soft but sticky dough.
