Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening ⓘ
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened ⓘ
- 1 1/3 cups sugar ⓘ
- 1 cup packed brown sugar ⓘ
- 4 eggs ⓘ
- 3 teaspoons vanilla ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice ⓘ
- 3 cups flour ⓘ
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt ⓘ
- 2 teaspoons baking soda ⓘ
- 1/2 cup Quick-Cooking oats ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips ⓘ
- 2 cups pecans or walnuts ⓘ
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening, butter, and sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add vanilla and lemon juice to the mixture.
- Combine flour, oats, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing well.
- Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
- Drop by 1/4 cupfuls onto a lightly greased baking sheet, spacing three inches apart.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 14-16 minutes or until lightly browned and set in the center.
- Allow cookies to cool for two minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
