Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 6 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 pound butter or margarine
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • chopped almonds

Instructions

  1. Cream 1 cup of sugar and butter together.
  2. Mix the second cup of sugar with the eggs, then beat with the butter mixture.
  3. Add flour and baking powder to this mixture and mix well.
  4. Divide dough into 6 parts, each about the size of a child's wrist.
  5. Bake at 325°F for 30 minutes or until light brown.
  6. Remove from oven, and when easy to handle, cut into slices 1/2-inch thick.
  7. Spread slices on a cookie sheet and dry in the oven at 300°F.
  8. Turn over after about 10 minutes and dry 10 more minutes or until brown.
