Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. dates
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 egg
  • dash of salt
  • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp. light corn syrup

Instructions

  1. Stew the dates with enough milk to cover them until soft.
  2. Put the cooked dates and milk mixture through a colander or blend until smooth.
  3. Add the egg, salt, nutmeg, and light corn syrup to the date mixture and mix well.
  4. Pour the filling into an uncooked pastry shell.
  5. Bake as a custard pie until set and golden.
