Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sweet milk
  • 2 ounces chocolate
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Combine sweet milk and chocolate in a saucepan and cook until thickened, stirring constantly.
  4. Allow the chocolate mixture to cool slightly, then add alternately with milk to the creamed mixture.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Pour batter into greased and floured 8-inch cake pans.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool completely before assembling with Ideal Frosting.
