Mrs. Johnson's Chicken features tender fried chicken topped with a creamy mushroom and bay leaf sauce, perfect for comforting family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken or several breasts
  • canned milk
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 can mushroom pieces

Instructions

  1. Fry the chicken until golden brown.
  2. Place the fried chicken in a casserole dish.
  3. Make white sauce in a separate pan using canned milk.
  4. Add bay leaves, salt, pepper, and mushroom pieces to the white sauce.
  5. Stir the sauce until smooth.
  6. Pour the sauce over the chicken in the casserole dish.
  7. If the chicken isn't fully covered, pour some additional milk over it.
  8. Push the meat up and down to mix the sauce evenly.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 45 minutes, covered.
  10. Serve hot, preferably with rice.
