Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
  • 3/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 pound green or yellow beans, well drained

Instructions

  1. In a 1½‑quart saucepan, stir together the sugar, flour, mustard, celery salt, salt, and turmeric until well combined.
  2. Gradually whisk in the cider vinegar, maintaining a smooth mixture.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and comes to a boil.
  4. Add the beans, gently folding them into the sauce.
  5. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  6. Refrigerate, covered, until the flavors meld, about an hour or more.
