Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 packages yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 cups plain flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and sugar together.
  2. Add boiling water and stir well.
  3. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water and melt.
  4. When sugar and shortening mixture are completely cooled, stir in yeast and water.
  5. Add well beaten eggs to the mixture.
  6. Add sifted flour combined with salt, and mix well.
  7. Put the dough in a large, covered container and refrigerate for 24 hours.
