Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 4 egg whites

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar and egg yolks together.
  2. Add vanilla to the mixture.
  3. Mix in flour and baking powder until well combined.
  4. Whip egg whites with salt until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the batter.
  6. Line a 15 x 10-inch pan with heavily buttered paper.
  7. Spread the batter evenly on the prepared pan.
  8. Bake in a 375°F (190°C) oven for 13 minutes.
  9. While hot, invert the cake onto a sheet of waxed paper sprinkled with powdered sugar.
  10. Remove the baking paper from the cake surface.
  11. Cut off any hard edges of the cake.
  12. Spread jelly over the surface and carefully roll the cake.
