Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup soft shortening (Crisco)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3 1/3 cups sifted flour
  • 1/3 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar with a fork until creamy, then blend in the soft shortening.
  2. Combine the sifted flour and salt with a fork; then blend with the butter mixture.
  3. Gradually stir in cold water until the mixture cleans the sides of the bowl.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough until just well mixed.
  5. Chill the dough.
  6. Divide the dough into thirds and roll out each to form crusts.
  7. Bake at 450°F for 13 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
