Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 packets yeast
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 cup oil
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 5 cups self-rising flour

Instructions

  1. Mix together warm water, yeast, and sugar; wait until the yeast dissolves.
  2. Add oil, buttermilk, and baking soda to the mixture, and mix well.
  3. Add self-rising flour to the mixture and stir to combine.
  4. Put the dough in a covered bowl and let it rise for a few hours or overnight.
  5. Stir the dough, then turn it onto a floured board.
  6. Work the dough with your hands to form biscuits.
  7. Bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
