Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup dark molasses
  • 1 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, combine whole wheat flour, buttermilk, and molasses.
  3. Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well.
  4. Stir in raisins.
  5. Pour the batter into well-greased 11.5 ounce coffee cans.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 to 50 minutes or until tested done.
