Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • saltines
  • 1.5 cups chopped nuts
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 12 oz chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil, folding over the sides.
  2. Line saltines all over the cookie sheet.
  3. Combine brown sugar with melted butter in a saucepan.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 3 minutes.
  5. Spoon the hot caramel mixture over the saltines evenly.
  6. Place the cookie sheet in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) and bake for 5 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot caramel layer.
  8. Let sit briefly until the chocolate softens.
  9. Spread the softened chocolate evenly with a spoon.
  10. Sprinkle chopped nuts over the chocolate layer.
  11. Refrigerate for 1 hour until set, then break into pieces.
