Ingredients

  • 6 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 or 8 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 pound oleo
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 pint sour cream
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 3 pounds English walnuts

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together except the yeast.
  2. Add the dry yeast to warm milk and let it activate before mixing.
  3. Mix nuts with sugar and vanilla to prepare the filling.
  4. Combine ingredients to form a dough and let it raise for 1 hour in a warm place, covered.
  5. Take a small piece of dough, roll it out, and place in the filling.
  6. Roll up the filled dough and arrange on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake in a 350°F oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
  8. Beat 1 egg with a drop of water and a pinch of sugar to make an egg wash.
  9. Brush the egg wash on the rolls just before returning them to the oven for a shiny finish.
