Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 1/3 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup chopped almonds

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and 1/3 cup sifted sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat eggs until thick and lemon colored.
  3. Add remaining sifted sugar gradually and continue beating.
  4. Combine the two mixtures and blend until smooth.
  5. Sift dry ingredients together and add chopped almonds.
  6. Chill the dough.
  7. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown.
