Nutmeg-Meltaways are delicate, buttery cookies with a fragrant nutmeg and almond or pecan flavor, perfect for holiday gatherings or when craving sweet, spiced treats.

Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. ground almonds or finely chopped pecans
  • 1 c. confectioners sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter, sugar, and vanilla.
  2. Gradually add flour; mix well.
  3. Stir in the ground almonds or chopped pecans.
  4. Shape into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  5. Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 18 to 20 minutes or until bottoms are lightly browned.
  6. Cool on wire racks.
  7. In a small bowl, combine confectioners sugar and ground nutmeg.
  8. Gently roll cooled cookies in the sugar mixture.
