Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 can (29 oz.) pear halves
  • 1 cup pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch fluted tube pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, ground nutmeg, baking soda, ground cinnamon, salt, and baking powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, vegetable oil, beaten eggs, apple cider, and vanilla.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir well.
  5. Stir in the mashed pear halves and chopped pecans.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 65 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan.
