Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 cakes compressed yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in one cup of the milk and dissolve yeast in the other cup of milk.
  2. Beat eggs and sugar; stir in the two cups of milk with melted butter and dissolved yeast.
  3. Mix sifted flour, salt, and cinnamon; gradually blend into the egg-milk mixture.
  4. Beat well until smooth.
  5. Sprinkle in chopped nuts and fold into the dough.
  6. Let the dough rise to double in size in a mixing bowl covered with a warm, damp cloth.
  7. Divide the dough into two equal parts and press each into a well-greased loaf pan.
  8. Sprinkle tops with cinnamon-sugar mixture and a little melted butter.
  9. Let the loaves rise to double in size in the pans.
  10. Bake in a 375°F oven for 30 minutes until golden brown.
