Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange rind (optional)
  • 1/2 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup melted butter or margarine
  • 2 (11 ounce) cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
  • 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, chopped pecans, and grated orange rind in a small bowl; set aside.
  2. Place about 3/4 teaspoon of cream cheese in the center of each biscuit; fold the biscuit in half over the cheese, pressing edges to seal.
  3. Dip each biscuit in melted butter, then dredge in the sugar mixture.
  4. Place the biscuits, curved side down, in a single layer in a lightly greased 10-cup Bundt pan, spacing evenly.
  5. Arrange any remaining biscuits around the center of the pan to fill gaps.
  6. Drizzle any remaining melted butter over the biscuits and sprinkle on remaining sugar mixture.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35-40 minutes or until done.
  8. Immediately invert the pan onto a serving plate to cool slightly.
  9. Combine powdered sugar and orange juice, stirring until smooth, then drizzle over the warm coffee cake before serving.
