Ingredients

  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup molasses
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 yeast cakes
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 5 1/2 to 6 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Add oats, molasses, salt, and oil to boiling water and let cool.
  2. Dissolve yeast cakes in warm water.
  3. Add the dissolved yeast to the first mixture.
  4. Mix in sifted flour gradually.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the dough into loaves or rolls.
  7. Let rise for another hour.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes.
