Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar; add egg yolk, nutmeg, baking soda, and flour.
  2. Stir in milk and vanilla until a stiff dough forms.
  3. Chill for 15 minutes, if desired.
  4. Roll out on a lightly floured board; cut with a round cookie cutter about 2 1/2 inches in diameter.
  5. Bake at 400°F for 5 to 8 minutes or until brown.
