Ingredients

  • 4 cups cooked cushaw
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 whole nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Cook cushaw in water until tender.
  2. Drain the cushaw.
  3. Add the butter, sugar, and cream to the cooked cushaw, beating with a mixer after each addition.
  4. Add eggs and salt to the mixture and blend well.
  5. Pour the filling into prepared pie crusts.
  6. Grate fresh nutmeg on top of the filling before baking.
  7. Bake the pie at 350°F until the filling is set.
