Ingredients

  • 2 c. mincemeat or 1 c. raisins
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 c. salad oil or shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Combine raisins and water (if using in place of mincemeat) and bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in salad oil.
  3. Allow the mixture to cool to lukewarm.
  4. Preheat oven and prepare the crust with the flour, salt, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, sugar, egg, soda, nutmeg, and chopped nuts.
  5. Spread the cooled mincemeat mixture over the prepared crust.
  6. Bake until golden brown and set.
