Soft, old-fashioned sugar cookies with a hint of cinnamon and vanilla, perfect for satisfying sweet cravings and delightful gatherings with a tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or oleo
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • cinnamon and sugar (in equal amounts), mixed

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter well.
  2. Gradually add sugar while beating.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Add vanilla.
  5. Sift dry ingredients together and add to the creamed mixture, alternately with sour cream, ending with dry ingredients.
  6. Drop heaping teaspoonfuls of dough onto a cookie sheet, spacing them well apart.
  7. With a spatula, flatten each into circles about 2 inches in diameter.
  8. Sprinkle the cookies with cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  9. Bake at 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes.
