Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 3 cups plain or bread flour
  • 1 package yeast
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Soften Crisco in hot water and add sugar and salt.
  2. Dissolve yeast in warm water with a tablespoon of sugar.
  3. Add egg and mix well, then incorporate flour.
  4. Mix the dough until smooth with a fork.
  5. Refrigerate the dough to chill for several hours, preferably overnight.
  6. Knead dough in bulk until it doubles in size, then shape into Parker House or cloverleaf rolls and place in muffin tins.
  7. Bake at 350°F to 375°F for about 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
